  • 1) Musculoskeletal System

Muscles tensing up is a response to a stress signal as a way to protect your body. Tension releases once the short moment of stress is over. Prolonged stress or chronic stress, keeps your muscles in a tense state for an extended period of time resulting in migraines, chronic muscle tension, and may trigger other issues in your body.

  • 2) Respiratory System

Stress causes the airway between your nose and lungs to restrict. This results in shortness of breath and rapid breathing, which can tigger a panic attack for someone who is prone to panic attacks. It's also problematic for people with respiratory diseases like asthma and COPD.

  • 3) Cardiovascular System

Increased heart-rate, increased blood pressure, and increased stress hormones are associated with acute stress such as meeting deadlines. These increases reduce back to equilibrium after the stressful event is over. When you're under chronic stress, these increases stay elevated and can lead to long-term health problems like hypertension, heart attack, or stroke.

If you're having difficulty managing your stress levels, I can help.
